Antony Rabin, a deaf BSL user, talks about how video relay has changed his life. Using video relay, he can now communicate over the phone.
"I am deaf and I used to rely on email and textphones for communication both at home and at work. When I sent an email though, I found people wouldn't reply instantly or if they did, they hadn't understood me. I was never fully comfortable with a textphone either. I want to communicate in more than just words. I want to communicate how I'm feeling and may want to make a joke but I can't always do this through text. SignTalk has made such a difference for me! Finally, I can communicate over the phone as freely as hearing people have been able to do for so long. SignTalk allows me to express emotions and to see the emotions of the other person through the interpreter. The interpreters are professional and friendly and talked me through my first call. I don't know what I'd do without it."
