The Real-Time Text Taskforce has been launched on 30 July 2008. RNID's Director of New Technologies, Guido Gybels, is a member of its steering group. The Real-Time Text Taskforce (R3TF) is a global, open forum and centre of excellence where engineers, experts, motivated individuals, companies and organisations work together and educate each to advance the wide spread adoption of real-time text (RTT). Deaf and hard of hearing people form a significant user group of real-time text applications. In the past, they had to use obsolete textphones, but there are now also products such as TalkByText that can offer real-time text in a 21st century guise as Internet applications.
See the R3TF website for more information.
