The award winning PC textphone that keeps customers and staff in touch

Traditional textphones are not mainstream devices. They are expensive, limited and complicated to use. TalkByText is a Windows application that offers real-time text on the PC and can also be used to call landline and mobile textphones. It is an ideal solution for businesses and other organisations that want to be fully accessible to deaf and hard of hearing customers and staff.

TalkByText Business Edition is a state of the art application that turns any Microsoft Windows PC into a real-time text terminal. It is based on open industry standards, like SIP and integrates tightly with VOIP infrastructure, making it the preferred solution for any business or organisation that wants to connect effectively with deaf staff and customers.

TalkByText Business Edition is intended for use on corporate and other organisational networks. If you are looking for real-time text software for personal use, see TalkByText Home Edition.

So, what can you do with TalkByText?

  • make and receive textphone calls
  • make text calls between PCs within your organisation
  • save or print your text conversations
  • create personal and corporate address books
  • assign people to teams to answer calls
  • forward text calls
  • set up answerphone messages
  • add functionality via plug-ins, such as send/receive SMS
  • customise it to provide just the services you need

How does it work?

Unlike Instant Messaging systems, TalkByText provides real-time, character-by-character text, essential for proper conversation and for making calls via a text relay service. You can read more about real-time text versus other text based technologies by clicking here.

There is no need for extra hardware, just install the TalkByText program. You can set up a central address book that keeps track of who is available and makes making calls as simple as clicking an entry in the address book.

Using the familiar Windows interface, your staff (hearing as well as deaf people) can hold real-time text calls with one another. They can also make calls to and receive calls from customers or members of the public using textphones. Staff are alerted to incoming calls audibly and visually and you can transfer calls if you need to.

Calls to external phone numbers are routed via BT TextDirect, so you can easily make a text call to a voice phone: a text-to-voice relay operator will be brought into the call automatically when needed.

What does TalkByText offer my organisation?

TalkByText will integrate far better into your corporate network and work better with other communication infrastructures (including VOIP) than legacy textphones ever could.

Using TalkByText will help to make your organisation much more accessible to deaf and hard of hearing customers and staff alike. It will allow anyone to easily have real-time text conversations with people in your organisation.

TalkByText is not just more powerful and versatile than other text solutions, it is affordable, easy to use and can run on most Microsoft Windows PCs (Windows 2000 and later) connected to a corporate network.

For breakout to the PSTN, most organisations find it economical and efficient to use the secure, pooled breakout service offered by RNID. Or you can host your own breakout server that connects your network to the PSTN.
